The National Center for Educational Statistics’ Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) began requiring the reporting of distance education (DE) enrollment from participating institutions in fall 2012. Through this short history of data collection valuable information has been gleaned about DE enrollments. The Center conducts extensive analysis and research on this data, as well as data collected from our partner institutions.
